ABOUT
Welcome, Friends!
I’m Jodi Rabinowitz, the artist behind these pieces and the founder of One Piece at a Time. This journey began with a simple desire: to create unique paper collages for the people I love. What started as a way to share a piece of my creativity grew into something much bigger. The joy and appreciation I received in return—the stories of how my art touched others—are what truly inspired me to keep going.
When people told me how my collages sparked joy by capturing something deeply personal, and how the materials I used added a special touch, it fueled my interest even more. I became hooked on this heartwarming cycle of creating, giving, and receiving. Now, I spend my days cutting, arranging, and pasting paper in my attic-turned-art studio, bringing stories to life in vibrant and meaningful ways.
My path to becoming an artist wasn’t a straight line. I started as a social worker in one of New York City’s busiest psychiatric emergency rooms, then transitioned into corporate leadership development across a range of industries. It might seem like a big leap, but both roles have something in common: understanding the person in front of you is where the magic happens. Whether in a hospital, a boardroom, or now my studio, my passion has always been listening to people’s stories and uncovering what they hold dear.
Today, as an artist, I’m honored to translate those stories and emotions into collages that reflect the essence of each person. I hope you enjoy the work in front of you and gain some insight into the experiences peppered throughout these creations.
