January 2025 Artist Exhibition

Welcome to my art wall!

I am the artist behind the collages below and the founder of One Piece at a Time.

— — —

This journey began with a simple desire: to create unique paper collages for the people I love and has since bloomed into a wonderful obsession. I spend my days cutting, sorting, arranging, and pasting paper in my attic-turned-art studio, bringing shapes to life in meaningful ways.

— — —

I am guided by these principles:

  • Color, color, color. The more vibrant they better. Noone has ever used the words Jodi and beige in the same sentence, and I am ok with that. While I like to truly “mix it up”, I often work with monochromatic schemes, finding beauty in subtle variations, textures and contrasts.

  • It’s Good to Color Outside the Lines. Each piece of paper is hand-cut and intuitively placed, so not everything is straight, crisp, or perfectly aligned. Life and art are full of unexpected twists, and these collages reflect the beauty of embracing that imperfection.

  • No Paper is Off Limits. I source handmade or hand painted paper from all over the world. Like the art I create the paper has its own story. I use is a rich mix of material such as newspaper, tree bark, banana leaves, cardboard, magazines, amusement park tickets, candy wrappers, and more.

  • Shower someone with surprise and delight. The true power of art lies in its unmatched ability to spark joy and bring happiness. My goal as an artist is to have you walk away from my collages feeling  a bit of whimsy and a skip in your step.

Below you will find collages available for sale.

Purple Haze

16 x 12 in
Paper, magazines, watercolor, oil pastel, string
2024
$500

Who is your purple? Someone who came into your life and made it better by just being there. Everyone has a purple.

Swimming Pool

30 x 22 in
Magazines, watercolor
2023
$1200

Frankly, I wasn’t sure to call this collage swimming pool, sky or the sea because I was channeling all three while I was playing with all blue tones. I ultimately named it Swimming Pool because the lines reminded me of swim lanes. But you call call it whatever you want!

Red Flowers

30 x 22 in
Paper, magazines, watercolor, oil pastel, string
2023
$1500

I made a series of flower vases in every color (blue, pink, and  orange) but settled on this one for your enjoyment because red is my best friend’s favorite color.

Nothing is Random

40 x 26 in
Paper, magazines, watercolor, oil pastel, string
2024
$3500

I cut and curated hundreds and hundreds of shapes, sorted them over a period of weeks and moved them around until the very last one is carefully pasted. While I can’t tell you how long it took to create or gather all the parts, I can tell you it took 5.5 hours to glue in place.

Rock and Roll

18 x 16 in
Paper, magazines, watercolor, oil pastel
2024
$500

Have you ever come across a stack of rocks while hiking? This pile is called a cairn and it has many different meanings including “I was here.”  I am fascinated by rock walls how the most distinct shapes fall into harmony.
